River Leaf Vine (Aganonerion polymorphum)

River Leaf Vine, also known as Lá Giang in Vietnam (Aganonerion polymorphum), is a vigorous evergreen climber. Its glossy, mildly sour leaves are a popular staple in Southeast Asian cuisine, prized for adding a refreshing tart flavor to traditional Vietnamese sour soups (canh chua) and stews. Reaching 5–10m in length when supported, it is ideal for covering fences, trellises, pergolas, and other garden structures. Thriving in sunny to partly shaded positions with well-drained soil and regular moisture, it can be pruned as needed to maintain a tidy appearance and manage growth.
