The Panama Berry (Muntingia calabura)

These ice cream flavoured berries are so easy to grow. Give it a warm sunny spot and it grows like a weed. If you look after it you'll kill it! Our kids love them so much. Commonly known as 'Panama Berry' (Muntingia calabura) 

Blueberry sized fruits taste like vanilla icecream with a hint of fig and strawberry flavour.

Fast growing tree, up to 5m (can be pruned to 2m). When fully grown, the canopy extends to make a small to medium sized umbrella-shaped ornamental feature tree, providing shade and fruit! 

Starts fruiting after only 1 year. 

Very easy to grow. Pruning the tree will make it bush out more and provide a dense privacy screen. Give them plenty of fertilizer and water, and after a couple of months the tree will be very hardy and look after itself. Tolerates most soil types including heavy clay soil. Self pollinating.
